Job description

Transfer and Promotion Policy:

Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completing one (1) year of service in their current position, with exceptions: associates who have received a written warning are ineligible for transfer/promotion until six (6) months after issuance; those suspended are ineligible until one (1) year after suspension. Part-time associates who have completed their probationary period may move to full-time vacancies within their department, provided such movement does not unreasonably affect departmental operations. Probationary periods are three (3) months for full-time and four (4) months for part-time employees working more than 3/5 of a full week.

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Radiologist in charge of ultrasound and the ultrasound supervisor, performs a variety of ultrasound examinations at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. Uses independent judgment and initiative to apply prescribed scanning protocols for medical diagnosis.

Work Schedule:

This position is scheduled for 12 PM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday every other weekend, including holidays.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform sonograms of indicated anatomical areas following prescribed protocols.
  2. Use correct patient positioning based on body habitus and exam requirements.
  3. Prepare a preliminary written impression of the sonogram and interview patients for identification, education, and detailed clinical history.
  4. Maintain adherence to imaging workflow in EPIC and GE PACS, including tracking exams, verifying images, labeling, and orientation.
  5. Maintain quality patient care, including IV pump operation, oxygen delivery, and patient modesty.
  6. Clean and maintain ultrasound equipment between procedures and monitor performance.
  7. Handle ultrasound equipment safely and securely.
  8. Maintain patient record exam verification in EPIC and PACS.
  9. Correlate x-ray, lab results, and other clinical data.
  10. Train new associates, radiology residents, medical students, and ultrasound students in ultrasound procedures.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Program
  • Registered Specialty with ARDMS in Abdomen and/or OBGYN
  • Require 30 CE credits per three-year rolling period to maintain ARDMS status.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound units capable of B Mode, M Mode, color and pulse wave Doppler, and 3D imaging.
  • Ability to operate EPIC, GE PACS, Trophon disinfection systems, and workstation/PC.
