Job summary

Shriners Hospitals for Children is seeking an Ultrasound/Diagnostic Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and related imaging procedures for pediatric patients. The role requires technical expertise, patient-centered care, and strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.

Ideal candidates will have ARDMS certification or the ability to obtain within three months and at least two years of ultrasound experience, with Pediatric experience preferred.

• 2 years of related ultrasound work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and monitors quality assessment practices to ensure patient safety.
• Performs ultrasound examinations according to physician orders.
• Interprets requests stated in radiologic terms and communicates with radiology staff.
• Notifies imaging Manager of equipment malfunctions and coordinates repairs.
• Assesses patient needs prior to examinations and reviews prior imaging studies.
• Operates ultrasound equipment and maintains orderly image files and reports.

This role requires technical expertise, patient-centered care, and adherence to radiation safety protocols.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintains and monitors quality assessment practices and procedures to ensure appropriate and proper patient carePerforms other operational functions, in support of assigned department to ensure quality servicesAccurately interprets oral and written requests stated in radiologic and medical termsNotifies imaging Manager of equipment malfunction and obtains necessary repairs.Assesses patients needs prior to performance of examination.Consistent review of prior imaging studies before starting an imaging exam.Directs questions, regarding appropriateness of an ultrasound request to the Imaging Manager, Radiologist or staff physician.Operates and performs ultrasound exams independently according to physician’s ordersAssists in maintaining imaging files to ensure easy irretrievability in a timely manner.Assists in the preparation of images for interpretation and imaging reports for image file jackets.Assists in the copy request for Shriners Hospital images and images received from outside medical facilities.Monitors assigned quality assessment activities and recording of data in the designated binder as assigned.Required QualificationsAmerican Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)CPR certification or the ability to complete within three months of hireTwo years related Ultrasound work experiencePreferred QualificationsPediatric ExperienceCompensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
