Job summary

Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage, CA is seeking a skilled ultrasound technologist to perform high-quality sonographic imaging and assist radiologists in procedures. You will obtain patient history, prepare patients, and follow department protocols while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.

The role requires teamwork, keen attention to sterile technique, and the ability to communicate clearly with physicians, nurses, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Performs sonographic images of the highest technical quality.
• Obtains appropriate medical history before patient examination and prepares patient for exam.
• Follows department protocols for each exam.
• Assists radiologist and RN in applicable ultrasound procedures as needed.
• Documents changes in patient condition using appropriate forms and contacts RN when necessary.
• Maintains cleanliness of ultrasound rooms, machines and control area and ensures proper charging in the system.
• Reports deficiencies in ultrasound equipment and reports to leadership.
• Communicates exam procedures and findings to patients and staff clearly and empathetically.

• Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
• Performs Sonographic images of the highest technical quality.
• Uses Universal Precautions in all situations per policy and procedure.
• Obtains appropriate medical history before patient examination and prepares patient for exam.
• Follows department protocols for each exam.
• Documents any changes in patient condition using appropriate forms and contacts Registered Nurse (RN) when necessary.
• May be required to assist radiologist and RN in applicable ultrasound procedures as needed.
• Keeps patient informed of exam procedures, delays, and allows patient to ask questions regarding the procedure; provides explanations of procedures and equipment.
• Keeps open communication with physicians and staff on patient exam, delays, concerns and care.
• Sets up sterile trays and assists the radiologist in invasive procedures with Ultrasound guidance.
• Uses all applicable ultrasound equipment and reports all deficiencies to leadership.
• Appropriately documents in PACS, EPIC, required forms and billing.
• Prioritizes procedures and utilizes time wisely to complete daily workload within the scheduled shift.
• May be required to work additional shifts, different shifts or at satellite locations as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness of all ultrasound rooms, machines and control area.
• Enters correct charges and supplies in the computer.
• Gives accurate and detailed interpretations of exams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge of all invasive and non-invasive ultrasound procedures
• Knowledge of applicable sterile field procedures and proficient with portable exams
• Ability to create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors, demonstrating empathy and respect in all interactions
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment and computer based systems
• Proficient in applicable diagnostic ultrasound imaging; knowledge of patient age-specific needs to provide appropriate care
• Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
• Ability to communicate and interpret using medical terminology
