Description
Under the general guidance of the physicians/providers performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic
procedures.
Reports to: Office Manager I or II per clinic structure
Reviews patient history and physician orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment & exam to
ensure understanding and cooperation.
Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.
Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive
procedures according to established standards and practices.
Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree in Radiology - Preferred
Graduate from a Medical Ultrasound Program - Required
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be
obtained within 90 days of employment, if not current upon hire.
Licenses:
Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Sonography(s) and/or
registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). New graduates must
acquire valid registration within 12 months of hire date.
Minimum Work Experience:
Six (6) months experience performing Ultrasound procedures
