Job summary

HCA Healthcare in Mesquite, Texas is looking for a full-time Perinatal Ultrasound Technologist. In this role, you will apply specialized techniques to ensure high-quality care, assist with the evaluation of fetal and gynecological anomalies, and operate various ultrasound machines. You must hold an Associates degree in Ultrasound and ARDMS certification, with a preference for additional qualifications and experience in OBGYN ultrasound.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Ultrasound is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of specialty Ultrasound experience is required.
  • ARDMS certification is required.
  • BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Applies fetal ultrasound principles in evaluation of fetal anomalies.
  • Identifies fetal anomalies and performs complicated twin and triplet scans.
  • Operates various ultrasound machines with proficiency.
  • Maintains ultrasound logging records including past medical history.
  • Exercises independent judgment when interpreting biophysical profiles.

Employment Details

Seeking a Perinatal Ultrasound Technologist / Sonographer for our MFM practice who provides specialized expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. What you will do in this role
  • Applies fetal ultrasound principles in the evaluation of fetal anomalies. Applies gynecological ultrasound principles in the evaluation of patient. Adapts to various ultrasound machines while maintaining high standards of sonography.
  • Identifies fetal anomalies, such as CNS, maxillofacial, cardiothoracic, abdomen, abdomen wall, genitourinary, extremity placental, umbilical cord growth disturbance. Performs ultrasounds on maternal uterus, cervix and ovaries. Performs complicated twin and triplet scans in conjunction with in-office multiple gestation service. Identifies gynecological anomalies such as fibroids, thickened endometrium and polyps.
  • Makes preliminary, equivocal diagnosis of gynecological and fetal disorders in the organ systems mentioned above.
  • Operates General Electric, Accuson, Medison, and ATL ultrasound machines with proficiency. Continues to expand knowledge of latest technology.
  • Maintains ultrasound logging records including past medical history, past surgical history, past obstetric history, and past genetic history.
  • Prepares patients for procedures including and not limited to Level I &II ultrasounds, amniocentesis, lung maturity amniocentesis, PUBS, anmio reduction, external cephalic version, and GYN ultrasound.
  • Maintains professional relationship with other staff members, other obstetric offices and hospital personnel.
  • Exercises independent judgement when interpreting Biophysical Profiles designed to assess fetal well-being. Alerts physicians of potentially dangerous conditions. Diagnoses fetal weight disturbances based on fetal biometry. Diagnoses multiple fetal anomalies and reports and demonstrates them to physician.
What Qualifications You Will Need
  • Associates degree in Ultrasound, required
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • A minimum of one-year specialty (OBGYN) Ultrasound Tech / Technician experience required
  • ARDMS, required
  • RDMS-OBGYN – highly preferred
  • BLS required
  • Must be certified in diagnostic ultrasound in accordance with state regulations
