Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (or equivalent) that meets ARDMS standards
• Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and competency in performing ultrasound examinations relevant to department
• ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credentials
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate and ARDMS physics registry

Responsibilities

• Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
• Maintains professional judgment and demeanor aligned with quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheres to Baptist Health mission and excellence standards.
• Assesses patient condition and age-specific needs.
• Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification and documents history.
• Positions patient and equipment to achieve high quality images.
• Assesses diagnostic images for quality and proper annotation.
• Participates in Quality Control tasks.
• Administers medical aid in emergencies.
• Applies standard precautions and PPE to prevent cross-contamination.
• Supervises student sonographers and trains new staff.
• Utilizes radiology computer systems effectively.
• Ensures safety of all customers.
• Maintains regular attendance per policy.
