Job summary

Brookwood Baptist Health's Baptist Health Shelby Hospital in Alabaster, AL, seeks an ultrasound technologist to join a dedicated radiology team. This 252-bed acute care facility offers advanced imaging services, including 3 Tesla MRI and robotic systems, supporting a high-quality patient experience.

You will perform diagnostic sonography exams with radiologist collaboration, ensure patient safety, and contribute to a compassionate, fast-paced environment that emphasizes quality care and

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (or equivalent) that meets ARDMS standards
  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and competency in performing ultrasound examinations
  • ARDMS registered or CCI credential and
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate
  • Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimenting quality care
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures
  • Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and excellence standards
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs
  • Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results
  • Positions patient and equipment to obtain high quality images for interpretation
  • Ensures safety and compliance with regulations and quality control tasks

A Brief OverviewProvides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student sonographers and training of new sonographers.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and educational requirements.

Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program (or equivalent) that meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) standards Required
  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures and routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department Required
  • ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate and
  • Maintains ARDMS physics registry and one ARDMS registry Required
