UNC Health is seeking Ultrasound Techs to perform a range of diagnostic ultrasound exams across multiple specialties in North Carolina. The role includes collaboration with radiologists for invasive procedures and strict adherence to departmental protocols.

Incentives for full-time positions can reach up to $15,000, with a salary range of $33.37–$47.97 per hour based on experience and internal equity. Multiple locations statewide offer a mix of per diem, part-time, and full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound.
• RDMS registered by ARDMS or registry-eligible and register within 1 year of hire.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Ultrasound Tech I: no prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs diagnostic ultrasound exams across abdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, breast, abdominal duplex, MSK, CEUS, and pediatric sonography.
• Assists radiologists with invasive procedures such as biopsies, injections, and aspirations.
• Complies with departmental protocols under indirect supervision of the attending radiologist and supervisor.

Salary Range:

$33.37 - $47.97 per hour (Hiring Range). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.

The sonographer independently performs diagnostic ultrasound exams (including but not limited to abdominal, small parts, OB/GYN, breast, abdominal duplex, musculoskeletal, CEUS, and pediatric sonography. The technologist will assist the radiologists with invasive procedures such as biopsies, injections, and aspirations. This employee must comply with departmental protocols under indirect supervision of the attending radiologist and departmental supervisor.

Education Requirements:

• Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• RDMS registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Professional Experience Requirements:

• Ultrasound Tech I: No prior experience required.
• Ultrasound Tech II: Three (3) years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech.
