Job summary

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus, part of Tenet Healthcare, is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality ultrasound examinations for diagnostic use. The role requires ARDMS certification or eligibility, CPR, and 1–2 years of ultrasound experience, with three years preferred.

You will work in Radiology to support OB/GYN, abdominal, pelvic and vascular imaging, with emphasis on patient safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • Must have ARDMS certification or eligible.
  • 1–2 years of ultrasound experience required; 3 years preferred.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound examinations (abdomen, pelvis, OB/GYN, small parts, interventional) interpreted by Radiologists.
  • Follow proper protocols and paperwork for servicing equipment.
  • Document examination information accurately for medical personnel.
  • Input charges in the system and verify patient history.
  • Explain the ultrasound process to patients and ensure proper patient identification.
  • Handle equipment, filing, and copying of examinations as required.

Job Summary

Position Summary

Produces quality ultrasound examinations which are used in medical diagnosis and interpreted by Radiologists/MD and may include: abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN, small parts and interventional ultrasound procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Performs billing and charging with computer systems.
  • Follows proper protocol and associated paperwork for servicing malfunctioning equipment.
  • Inputs charges in computer system. Obtains patient history for each examination from patient and/or chart.
  • Documents examination information completely and accurately to appropriate medical personnel by using examination worksheets, written preliminary reports when needed and/or verbal notification
  • Utilizes periodic QC and preventative maintenance and proficiency in proper patient positioning to achieve best examination results. Explains the ultrasound process to each patient prior to the examination.
  • Verifies proper patient identification using patient armband.
  • Uses equipment i.e. phones, faxes, copiers, information systems. Ensures proper protocol for filing and copying ultrasound examinations.
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Special Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to understand oral and written instructions stated in radiological and medical terms and to exchange information with patients and staff.
    • Proficient with general operating procedures, i.e. start up procedures, calibration of equipment, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Education: Completion of formal ultrasound technology training which meets requirements for certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
    • Experience: One to two years of experience using ultrasound and vascular technology under the direction of an appropriate specialty physician is necessary.
    • Licensure/Certifications: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Certified or certified eligible. CPR.
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Experience: Three years experience.
