Job summary

Ultrasound/Sonography Technologist - Pier Diem

Position Summary

Performs diagnostic Ultrasound examinations for patients of all age groups.

Job Duties & Essential Functions

• Under the direction of the Radiologist in charge of ultrasound, performs a variety of ultrasound examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
• Uses independent judgement and initiative to apply prescribed scanning protocols for purposes of medical diagnosis.
• Works assigned schedule including overtime and calls as scheduled.
• Assists with training.
• Maintains an orderly and clean work environment.
• Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and health care team.
• Float to all off sites as needed.
• Call/On-Call/Recall required.
• Holidays and Weekends as required.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasonography.
• Certification in Ultrasound Technology.
• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) credential of abdomen mandatory.
• Minimum six (6) months' general independent sonographer experience.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• One (1) year general independent sonographer experience.
• ARDMS registered vascular or breast technologist certification.

Physical Demands

• Heavy lifting and bending of at least 100 pounds.
• Long periods of standing.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to see and read well.
• Able to hear and listen to instructions.
• Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms and/or mechanical substitutes to operate a stretcher, move patients and other company equipment.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBEILH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements

• Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Eastern Long Island's Employee Health Services
• Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
• Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
• Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
• Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
