Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform ultrasound exams in a fast-paced radiology setting at UAB St Vincent's East. The role requires setup and operation of equipment, safety procedures, and rapid image submission to PACS.

Qualifications

BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire date or job transfer date.
ARDMS certified at time of hire.
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) within 6 months required.
High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree.

Responsibilities

Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly department and compliance with regulatory agencies.
