GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides diagnostic imaging services according to accepted standards and protocols and assures patient safety during procedures

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all diagnostic procedures following policies and procedures established by the department.
  • Adjusts patient care based on age-specific needs.
  • Uses all equipment properly and in a manner that minimizes hazards of electric shock.
  • Selects appropriate equipment for each individual ultrasound exam.
  • Adjusts the equipment controls and selects the correct transducer according to the organ being examined.
  • Explains procedures and responds to questions appropriately.
  • Scans paperwork into PAC’s System.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the PAC’s System.
  • Working knowledge of CD Burning.
  • Completes patient charges for each exam in a timely manner.
  • Transports patients to and from the department.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment.
  • Determines most suitable position and shields patient for optimum imaging and patient comfort. Follows ALARA principle staff and patients shielding.
  • Able to note when order and inclination will not be correct.
Administrative:
  • Uses computer to access reports.
  • Follows protocols for releasing of images.
  • Assists with administrative responsibilities of the department to include scheduling appointments, answering the phone, etc.
  • Performs all quality controls procedures daily as assigned and maintains appropriate logs.
  • Participates in annual surveys and inspections
  • Able to teach/aid students.
Special Testing
  • Demonstrates competency on performing all ultrasound procedures and use of the equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of AS reporting system.
  • Follows proper protocol for the Throphon Disinfection System.
  • Assists with the ultrasound accreditation process.
