Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking a driven Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures with high-quality imaging, patient safety, and compassionate care supporting accurate diagnoses. Must have accredited ultrasound program completion and ARDMS certification; 1–2 years' experience and a health-related Bachelor's degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • ARDMS certification is required.
  • Preferred: 1–2 years of ultrasonography experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
  • Strong knowledge of ultrasound imaging techniques and anatomy.
  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of ultrasound diagnostic procedures per protocols.
  • Position and instruct patients for optimal images while ensuring safety.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and evaluate images for quality.
  • Correlate clinical history with procedures to select exams.
  • Prepare patients and minimize anxiety through clear communication.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care across all ages.
  • Adhere to safety, infection-control, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain compliance with accrediting organizations (Joint Commission, CMS, ACR).
  • Document procedures and maintain PACS and electronic records accurately.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other team members.
  • Assist with training of ultrasound students as appropriate.
  • Maintain certifications, continuing education, and required licensure.
  • Participate in department meetings and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

You will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures while ensuring high-quality imaging, patient safety, and compassionate care to support accurate diagnoses and clinical decision making.

  • Position and instruct patients to obtain optimal images while ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment and evaluate images for diagnostic quality.
