Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking an Ultrasonographer for the Manhattan, KS location. Responsibilities include selecting equipment and transducers, guiding patients into positions for optimal imaging, and ensuring high-quality ultrasound data is entered into the PACS system.

The role requires completing a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and ARDMS/CCS/ARRT registration or equivalent, plus customer service experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program through an accredited organization or on the job training in ultrasound that led to registry.
• Experience in customer service.
• Experience in ultrasound in hospital or clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate equipment/transducer for ultrasound examinations and adjusts controls according to protocol.
• Instructs and assists patient in positioning for examination and ensures quality of images.

Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test. Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.* Demonstrates knowledge of and performs department exam protocols. Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.* Accurately enters required data into Lumedx (PACS) system.* Completes and participates in Quality Improvement evaluation as needed/assigned.* Starts equipment, which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film. Photographs images of organs shown on display module, or removes strip printout from equipment, to obtain permanent record of internal examination.* Disinfects equipment and area.* Participates in training of Washburn University students as directed.* Demonstrates knowledge of and performs proper high-level disinfection processes for probe care.
