Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Registry-eligible required with state licensure.
  • Experience in high-risk OB, infertility, and guided biopsies preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Select equipment and imaging modalities, position patient, and prep for optimal studies.
  • Operate ultrasonography equipment and review prior results for completeness.
  • Record preliminary results and prepare reports with the department system.
  • Take measurements and label them accurately.
  • Communicate ultrasound findings to the physician for interpretation.
  • Consult with Radiologist on unusual scans and re-scans when needed.
  • Perform transducer decontamination and maintain logs.
  • Assist with interventional biopsy procedures.
  • Modify billing fields to reflect the exam performed.
  • Instruct and oversee students and staff in lab operations.
  • Maintain equipment and QC procedures; ensure orderly lab.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Overview

36 hours per week - Nashua, NH

Performs ultrasound examinations which include, 3D & 4D imaging with multiple imaging modalities, including high-risk gynecological/obstetrical examinations/procedures, infertility, and complex ultrasound guided biopsies.

Responsibilities
  1. Selects equipment and imaging modalities, position and prep, to facilitate optimum diagnostic studies.
  2. Operates ultrasonography equipment to perform examination. Evaluates accuracy and quality of scan results. Reviews patient record for prior findings/test results to aid in determining exam completeness.
  3. Selects and records preliminary study results. Prepares preliminary reports using department-specific structured reporting system.
  4. Takes measurements and labels them.
  5. Gathers and communicates ultrasound findings to the physician for interpretation.
  6. Consults with Radiologist about unusual scans and need for re-scanning.
  7. Performs transducer decontamination and maintains log entries, reporting any discrepancies to the Education Coordinator.
  8. Performs duties associated with interventional (biopsy) procedures.
  9. Modifies billing fields to reflect the exam being performed.
  10. Instructs and oversees students, residents, and physician staff in unit's operations.
  11. Maintains Ultrasonography equipment. Recognizes malfunctions and/or need for servicing. Ensures quality control procedures are maintained and maintains orderliness of ultrasound laboratory.
  12. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of accredited program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and registry eligible required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience performing a wide range of general and specialty ultrasound exams preferred.
  • Experience in high-risk OB, advanced abdominal imaging, complex infertility, and guided biopsies preferred.
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology and/or physiological data.
  • Competent in Ultrasound reporting systems.
Required Licensure/Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire.
  • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen (RDMS- AB) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Obstetrics & Gynecology (RDMS-OBGYN) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Breast (RDMS - BR) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS - FE) OR (RDMS - PS) or Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
