Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced ULH Transport Engineer to work remotely. You will design, engineer, and deploy optical transport solutions across the Metro access network, collaborating with planning, provisioning, and sales teams and vendors.

Responsibilities include drafting ISPECS, BOMs, and network diagrams, and ensuring documentation and standards are met. The role requires extensive ULH experience, familiarity with DWDM/SONET/ROADM technologies, and prior Verizon exposure.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in ULH detail / transport/ equipment engineering
• Extensive background in ULH equipment/ technologies
• Experience with optical equipment - Fujitsu, Cisco, Ciena
• Well versed with transport engineering, DWDM, SONET, ROADM
• Experience building iSPecs, network augmentations, and technical documentation
• Prior experience working for or supporting Verizon
• Knowledge or familiarity with FIM, ICON, TCOMS, COFEE, CCP, nSAP
• Planning experience

• Manage deployment of projects to meet business goals and objectives
• Identify, monitor, report and escalate project-related issues for timely resolution
• Develop corrective action plans to mitigate schedule impact
• Use project tracking tools to document milestones, issues, actions, and completions

An employer is looking for a ULH Transport Engineer to sit remotely. You will primarily be tasked with providing detailed network solutions leveraging the client’s transport network consisting of ULH, SONET, OTN, DWDM, and metro access. You will design, engineer, and deploy optical transport solutions to augment the metro access components of the global network. Responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with planning, provisioning, standards, and sales teams as well as equipment vendors on network and customer solutions
• Partnering with field operations and other implementation organizations to obtain information such as space, power, and fiber availability required to complete project engineering
• Creating install specifications (ISPECS) and applicable diagrams and drawings required for installation, turn-up, inventory, and configuration of Metro transport equipment deployed into the network
• Developing project Bill of Material (BOM) and placing orders for network equipment, rack, and hardware requirements
• Defining cable requirements, creating cable running lists, and ordering all cables
• Ensuring all engineering documentation is accurate and up to date
• Ensuring work meets all applicable engineering, financial, planning, and operational standards
• Responsible for managing deployment of projects to achieve targeted and measured business goals and key objectives
• Identify, monitor, report and escalated project-related issues to achieve timely resolution
• Develop and implement corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives
• Utilize project tracking tools and systems to accurately document milestones completions, project issues, corrective action plans, project jeopardies and overall project completions.
