Leidos Intelligence Group is looking for a UI/UX Engineer in Reston, Virginia. The successful candidate will design intuitive, user‑centric interfaces and AI‑driven applications for both unclassified and classified federal environments. The role bridges design and front‑end development, translating complex mission data into secure UI solutions while meeting government regulatory and security protocols.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Create, prototype, and code seamless user interfaces for mission‑critical government systems that leverage AI/ML technologies.
  • Ensure high‑security software remains intuitive, efficient, and accessible for federal stakeholders and analysts.
  • Design and develop responsive user interfaces for web‑based applications.
  • Translate complex workflows into simple, efficient user experiences that improve usability and adoption.
  • Build and maintain front‑end components using modern frameworks (React, Angular, or similar).
  • Ensure applications meet usability standards and accessibility best practices.
  • Contribute to and maintain consistent design patterns, components, and style guides.
  • Gather and incorporate user feedback to continuously improve interface design and functionality.
  • Work closely with backend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to align UI/UX with system capabilities.
  • Improve front‑end performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
  • Design intuitive interactions for AI/ML features such as predictive inputs, machine‑generated alerts, and dynamic analytics dashboards.
  • Create interfaces that streamline complex data visualization and integrate seamlessly with AI‑driven capabilities.
  • Collaborate with back‑end, data science, and AI/ML teams to ensure technical feasibility and smooth integration.
  • Work fluidly across multiple security domains (NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS or equivalent classified networks).
Qualifications
  • TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Typically requires a BS degree and 12–15 years of relevant experience, or an MS with 10–13 years; a doctorate may be acceptable.
  • Ability to conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing for defense and intelligence personnel.
  • Experience translating user needs into functionally designed interfaces that streamline complex data visualization and integrate AI‑driven capabilities.
  • Lead end‑to‑end design initiatives, including wireframing, storyboarding, user flows, and high‑fidelity prototypes.
  • Strong experience with front‑end technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
  • Experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience designing user‑centered interfaces for complex applications.
  • Understanding of UX principles, usability, and interaction design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Grafana or similar).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and backend integration.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and front‑end deployment workflows.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Experience designing intuitive interfaces for data‑driven GEOINT applications.
Pay Range

$131,300.00 – $237,350.00. The pay range is a general guideline and not a guarantee. Additional factors include responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
