Job Overview

Position: UI/UX Designer & Developer in the Engineering Applications Department (EAD). Location: Chantilly, VA. This is a full‑time, 100% onsite position.

Responsibilities

• Build responsive, accessible, high‑performance front‑end interfaces with exceptional attention to detail.
• Develop and implement intuitive user experiences for advanced visualization products to enhance data analysis and decision‑making processes.
• Partner with developers, engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to align vision and deliver cohesive solutions.
• Foster innovation by staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

Member of Technical Staff – System Software Engineering: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, or related STEM discipline. Minimum 2 years of frontend development experience.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern web frontend frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Demonstrated ability in user research, usability testing, rapid prototyping, and accessibility.
• Proven ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to executives.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Senior Member of Technical Staff – System Software Engineering: Minimum 4+ years of frontend development experience, experience architecting visualization software solutions, leading team discussions, Agile team leadership, and familiarity with Atlassian tools.

How You Can Stand Out

• Master’s or Ph.D. in HCI, Computer Science, Design, or Human Factors.
• Experience with rapid prototyping tools/methodologies.
• Proficiency with Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, or equivalent modeling tools.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective relationships with all levels of customers and staff.
• Experience building and maintaining large-scale design systems.
• Previous experience working with aerospace or defense industry clients.
• Current DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
