Job Overview

This position involves delivering nursing care using the nursing process, applying clinical knowledge, and exercising independent judgment to achieve quality patient outcomes. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge at the novice level, relevant to patient growth, development, and age-specific needs. The role provides professional nursing care in an inpatient hospital setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Certification, and Licensure:

• Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse with the WV Board or appropriate state board, or multi-state licensure via eNLC.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Experience:

• Less than 12 months of nursing experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and continuity of care through documentation and handoff processes.
• Create care plans using assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation.
• Recognize patient safety concerns and provide education tailored to patient needs.
• Perform thorough assessments and documentation.
• Use evidence-based practices and participate in patient-centered care models.
• Demonstrate growth in caring for complex patients, lifelong learning, and accountability.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Minimize manual lifting; use patient handling aids.
• Work requires strength and stamina, with the ability to lift 40+ lbs.
• Normal visual and auditory acuity required.
• Work involves protracted hours, biohazards, infectious diseases, and working near deceased patients.
