Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV is hiring a Patient Care Technician for a float pool on a part-time, PRN schedule. Under supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist with admission, transfers, discharges, vital signs, hygiene, nutrition monitoring, and basic patient comfort.

This role requires a high school diploma, BLS within 30 days, and prior patient care experience. You will work in a team-oriented environment, supporting licensed staff and maintaining a clean, safe patient

  • Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and report patient concerns to RN immediately.
  • Assist RN with admissions, transfers, discharges, and routine care.
  • Record vital signs and patient intake/output; assist with hygiene and comfort.

This position will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. High School Diploma or equivalent.2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:******EXPERIENCE:****1. Prior patient care experience.**CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.2. Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.3. Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures. Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).4. Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.5. Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors and employees.6. Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.7. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.8. Communicates with RN regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.10. Assists department with administrative tasks to support the department operations.11. Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate personnel**For facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:**1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards.
