Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV seeks an OR Scrub Tech/Nurse to provide intraoperative care as scrub person. Requires LPN licensure with 2 years scrub experience or Surgical Tech program and certification. BLS within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse and two years of scrub experience, or completion of a Surgical Technology Program and surgical technologist certification.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.
• One year of Surgical Technology experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge in the required specialty.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes quality aseptic technique in sterile or non-sterile OR roles.
• Assists the circulating RN in maintaining a sterile field.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the circulating RN.
• Gowns and gloved surgeons and positions equipment and instruments.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with patient transportation and positioning as directed by the surgeon.
• Prepares supplies and equipment per preference cards.
• Assists with sterilization and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Monitors inventory, orders, and restocks supplies and instruments.
• Removes out-of-date items and reprocesses per guidelines.
• Assists with department cleaning duties.
• Performs equipment checks as assigned.
• Assists with proper recording of patient charges.
• Responds to calls within 30 minutes.
• Mentors level one technologists.

Prepares supplies and equipment for surgical procedure following preference cards.8. Assists with sterilization and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.9. Monitors inventory; orders; and restocks supplies, instruments, and equipment.10. Removes out-of-date items and discards or reprocesses following established guidelines.11. Assists with the general cleaning duties of the department.12. Performs equipment checks as assigned.13. Assists with the proper recording of patient charges.14. Call with a response time of 30 minutes.15. Serves as a mentor to the team and supports the development of level one technologistsFor facilities with specialty accreditation requirements:1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards .
