The Excelsior Regional Sales Manager will lead our team to grow small group and specialty sales. They will be responsible for recruiting brokers, generating business, meeting sales goals, and managing office staff. Our primary Medical Carrier in the market is UnitedHealthcare, with primary Specialty Carriers including Ameritas, Metlife, Principal, and UnitedHealthcare.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Promote Excelsior's product portfolio to benefits brokers and help increase their enrollment and average case size across all product lines.
  2. Negotiate and close sales effectively.
  3. Conduct in-depth market presentations for brokers and employers.
  4. Create and implement strategies for top-producing agencies and brokers.
  5. Collaborate with Sales Management regarding pipeline, persistency, market objectives, and develop competitive strategies with specific brokers/agencies.
  6. Educate sales support on quoting plan designs and product pre-implementation.
  7. Spend 51% or more of your time in the field.
  8. Manage time effectively to succeed.
  9. Build solid relationships with carrier partners through collaboration and product knowledge.
Required Qualifications:
  • Maintain or obtain sales insurance licenses as required by state law in your territory.
  • Existing relationships with brokers and/or consultants in the marketplace.
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to understand underwriting, financial, and analytical details.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain client and producer relationships with a customer-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of sales experience in the insurance industry.
  • Experience in team leadership, coaching, or mentoring.
  • Knowledge of all products in the market segment, including competitive products.
  • Strong relationship-building and influence skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Willingness for overnight travel.
  • Ability to drive throughout the territory and work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations.

The salary range for this role is $50,000 to $115,000 annually, based on full-time employment, with potential bonuses based on sales performance. Benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contributions. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
