Below, you'll find other important information about this position.Performs a wide range of clerical duties in support of assigned patient care department as well as extensive monitoring function for all cardiac telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients. This position monitors a specified number of patients ordered pulse oximetry and capnography in a centralized location.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course within 180 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical Assistant Program.
2. Obtain certification in HeartSaver OR Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Performs cardiac monitoring for all telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients on applicable unit, identifying changes, addressing alarms to identify any abnormal heart rhythm variation, and reporting the patient's cardiac rhythm, and or life-threatening cardiac events to medical and nursing staff.
2. May analyze, interpret and measure ECG strip waveform displays and documents each patient's rhythm along with any changes and reports these changes according to established guidelines and protocols.
3. Utilizes Wave Strip Export to upload patient's cardiac rhythms/events to corresponding chart in EPIC.
4. Monitors pulse oximetry for assigned patient population as applicable.
5. Utilizes Epic/Telemetry Dashboard to ensure accuracy of patient Admissions/Discharges/Transfers.
6. Assembles a telemetry pack, battery, and electrodes for nursing staff.Ensures necessary inventory of clean packs and availability of batteries.
7. Monitors equipment and assists with trouble shooting ofmalfunctioning equipment with proper notification (i.e.: Healthcare Technology Supervisor and Nurse Manager).
8. Responsible for greeting and admitting functions upon patients' arrival to the department.
9. Performs routine clerical operations of unit to ensure smooth communication and functioning including intrahospital communications, admit/transfer/discharge/follow up care information, mail distribution, and maintenance of office supplies.
10. Organizes and maintains patient records and appropriate department records to help ensure accurate and complete documentation.
11. Coordinate and facilitate ongoing communication to ensure efficient intradepartmental and interdepartmental operations.
12. Welcomes visitors to the department and responds in a helpful and courteous manner to requests for assistance or information.
13. Assists physicians and other individuals by providing requested information about specific patient or department routines in accordance with the hospital's policy on Release of Patient Information.
14. Coordinates and facilitates ongoing communication to ensure timely, efficient intradepartmental and interdepartmental transportation of patients.

1. Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.

4. Knowledge of medical terminology.
5. Good verbal/writing and mathematical skills.
