As our UG Lube Technician, you will perform lubrication services on equipment such as loaders, trucks, trailers, light vehicles, shaft, motor bearings and more at a remote mine to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at a mine on an island about 18 miles outside of Juneau, Alaska. You'll start every day organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing work activities to ensure timely completion of projects, programs, and objectives. The majority of your average workday consists of filling containers with specified lubricants and traveling to assigned locations to apply lubricants to components of mobile and fixed equipment. To thrive in this role, you have pertinent decision-making skills to inspect equipment, report maintenance issues, can adapt work plans, and convey project statuses to others. We're on a remote island, you must know how to work independently, identify, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing approximately 500 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. As a member of the Greens Creek UG Mobile Maintenance team, the incumbent is responsible to perform regular services on mechanical and mobile equipment, such as loaders, trucks, trailers, light vehicles, shaft and motor bearings, sprockets, drive chains, gears, and pulleys.
High school diploma or equivalent. Heavy equipment maintenance experience helpful.
One year in equipment or mobile maintenance or related field. Heavy equipment operating skills preferred.

Employees may be frequently exposed to; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. This position may require work on nights, weekends, and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.
