Exciting news coming out of U CDD’s Planning an d Community Development department: The National Park Service listed Melton’s Bank on the National Register of Historic Places on July 3. UCDD Planner Mark Dudney authored the nomination with assistance from the owners, Gary and Jama Hancock, and his colleagues at the Tennessee Historical Commission.
Meltons Bank provided unusually personal service to the Gassaway community in Cannon County for nearly a century. The Hancocks restored it and made it a museum to highlight their local history.
