Position Summary:

High School Foreign Language Instructors: Spanish I, Spanish II, French I, French II, Mandarin, American Sign Language.

Essential Functions:
  1. Conduct an integrated academic foreign language class, teach students learning strategies.
  2. Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulative objects, props, and other learning aids.
  3. Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
  4. Assist with the planning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solving activities.
  5. Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
  6. Make recommendations on students' strengths and needs.
  7. Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
  8. Assist with the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
  9. Attend training and meetings as required.
  10. Provide 24-hour notice in case of absence.
  11. Prepare classroom work for students and be ready to deliver it in the instructor's absence.
Additional Functions:

Transport students between class locations, ensuring proper supervision and safety.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
  1. Two or more years of teaching experience at high school or post-secondary level.
  2. Complete a background clearance check.
  3. Ability to plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for Upward Bound students.
  4. Undergraduate or graduate degree in the designated discipline.
  5. Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at middle school, high school, or post-secondary level.
  6. Equivalent education and experience may be considered at the university's discretion.

The hourly range for this position is $40.00-$50.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, internal equity, market, and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range is base pay only and does not include incentives, bonuses, or other items.
