Job description

Job Title: UAS Tech EUAS Systems Engineer Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% Type of Travel: Local

The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a UAS Systems Engineer to support the Endurance Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (EUAS) Product Office, providing direct technical execution and systems engineering support to the Assistant Product Manager (APM) for MQ-1C Gray Eagle. This position applies interdisciplinary engineering skills across technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation (V&V), cost/risk, and supportability/effectiveness analyses. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on, multi-disciplinary engineering execution with a 35,000-foot strategic view---evaluating how technical decisions impact cost, schedule, performance, integration, testing, and airworthiness/program certifications to guide and advise program leadership.

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities:
  • Interdisciplinary Systems Engineering: Apply interdisciplinary engineering skills to support system-of-systems integration, technical planning, requirements allocation, and interface definition across Gray Eagle sub-systems, payloads, and ground control elements.
  • Full Lifecycle Analysis: Perform comprehensive engineering analyses across all stages of the total system product lifecycle---including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • 35,000-Ft Technical Guidance & Strategy: Evaluate how day-to-day engineering direction and technical trade-offs impact overarching cost, schedule, performance, system integration, flight tests, and program certifications. Provide actionable, data-driven advice to APMs and program leadership.
  • Requirements Conversion & Trade Studies: Execute functional analyses, timeline analyses, and detailed trade studies to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of operational/customer requirements into total systems solutions and technical specifications within program constraints.
  • Verification & Validation (V&V) Oversight: Review engineering work products, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), system modifications, and test results for technical rigor, completeness, and adherence to system requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a technical bridge across diverse engineering disciplines (hardware, aerospace, communications, cyber, electrical, manufacturing, and mechanical). Work directly within APM-led cross-functional teams alongside government matrix engineers, Army labs, testing facilities, external program offices (e.g., UAS TMD, PD SAI, PM AMSA, PM TAGM), and industry partners.
  • Acquisition Engineering Support: Provide system engineering inputs to establish sound technical baselines, Statements of Work (SOWs), system specifications, and technical documentation for contract requirement packages.
Qualifications:
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Citizenship: US Citizenship required.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in an Engineering discipline (e.g., Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering) or a related hard science.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of relevant engineering experience within DoD acquisition programs, with a proven background in systems engineering and integration.
  • Multi-Discipline Breadth: Broad technical understanding encompassing hardware, aerospace, communications, cyber, electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering domains, with the ability to technically execute across disciplines.
  • Systems Engineering Rigor: Demonstrated experience in functional analysis, requirements allocation, interface control, trade studies, and verification/validation (V&V) processes.
  • Strategic Systems Perspective: Ability to analyze complex technical challenges at the total-system level while maintaining focus on how technical outcomes drive cost, schedule, risk, test execution, and qualification/certification milestones.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively within matrixed APM structures and interface seamlessly with multi-disciplinary government and contractor teams.
Desired:
  • Direct experience supporting Army Aviation, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), or complex payload/sensor integration programs.
  • Background in developmental/operational testing (DT/OT), flight test integration, or airworthiness qualification processes.
  • Familiarity with working inside an APM/PM structure within PEO Aviation or equivalent DoD acquisition organizations.
