Job summary

NXP Semiconductors in Austin seeks an experienced, U.S.-licensed attorney to act as strategic advisor on U.S. regulatory matters with emphasis on export controls and cross-border capital flow rules affecting semiconductor operations.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on EAR/ITAR, OFAC sanctions, and related compliance.
  • Provide guidance on outbound investment rules and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Develop internal policies and training on export controls and connected vehicle rules.
  • Support regulatory investigations and government inquiries.

Job description

Job Title: Attorney – U.S. Regulatory Counsel

Role Summary
  • We are seeking an experienced U.S.-licensed attorney to serve as a strategic advisor on U.S. regulatory matters with an emphasis on export controls, as well as other current and future regulations that impact cross-border capital flows (e.g. Outbound Investment Rule) and supply chain security in the semiconductor industry (e.g. Connected Vehicle Rule).
  • In this role, you will parter with senior leadership to proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risks, and support the company’s business objectives in the rapidly evolving technology and semiconductor landscape.
  • This role requires expertise in U.S. trade controls and the ability to anticipate and navigate emerging regulatory frameworks impacting technology and semiconductor operations worldwide.
Job Responsibility
Export Controls & Sanctions
  • Primary internal legal counsel advising on EAR, ITAR, and related compliance obligations, OFAC sanctions and anti-boycott laws.
Emerging and Existing U.S. Regulatory Frameworks
  • Provide guidance on the U.S. outbound investment rule (Executive Order and related Treasury regulations)
  • Advise on compliance with current and future U.S. regulations, including cybersecurity, data privacy, and supply chain restrictions for automotive (e.g. connected vehicle rule) and IoT technologies.
  • Monitor and advise on new regulatory developments, counseling senior executives on potential impacts and working with other functional areas to develop and implement appropriate compliance processes.
Other Regulatory Support Activities
  • Legal support for governmental inquiries/RFIs and regulatory investigations
  • Advise on contracting issues with U.S. government contracting regulatory implications
  • Develop internal policies and training programs addressing export controls, outbound investment, connected vehicle compliance and other relevant regulations.
Qualifications
  • JD and active U.S. bar license.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in EAR/ITAR, OFAC, and familiarity with U.S. government contracting regulations, outbound investment and connected vehicle rules.
  • Experience working with global teams and U.S. regulators.
