Citi in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a Risk Policy Group Manager within USCC Collections Risk Policy Team. You will manage Loss Mitigation policy and lead a team, coordinating across collections, recovery, and front-end risk functions to deliver policy-enabled programs.

  • 10+ years experience in Policies/Analytics/Decision Management.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage policies related to eligibility and lifecycle of Loss Mitigation programs.
  • Provide analytical rigor to deliver forward-looking Loss Mitigation programs for delinquent and current customers.
  • Monitor enrollments and effectiveness against benchmarks including Risk Appetite framework.
  • Develop analysis framework to measure enrollments and performance.
  • Shape vision, roadmap, and drive execution with cross-functional support.
  • Benchmark Citi competitiveness against peers and industry best practices.
  • Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely closure.
  • Drive data strategy to support a data-driven policy approach.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and provide operational oversight.

Job description

The Risk Policy Group Manager position is part of USCC Collections Risk Policy Team and is accountable for management of Loss Mitigation Policy. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within the Loss Mitigation function and how they interact with other areas of the Collections and Recovery function as well as front-end Risk functions in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of Loss Mitigation including Forbearance and non-Forbearance programs for US Cards. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the Policies related to the eligibility and life-cycle of Loss Mitigation Programs
  • Provide analytical rigor and thought leadership to deliver best-in-class forward compatible Loss Mitigation programs for delinquent and current USCC customers
  • Monitor and evaluate program enrollments and effectiveness against benchmarks and expectations including Risk Appetite framework
  • Develop analytical framework to measure and optimize enrollments and performance
  • Develop vision, end state, and strategy / roadmap to reach end state. Enlist and/or influence others to support vision, end state and roadmap and then deliver / execute.
  • Be knowledgeable on industry best practices and benchmark USCC competitiveness across peers
  • Hypothesis development, analysis, test design, test vs control analysis, development of recommendation and oversight of implementation and execution are key focus areas.
  • Assess the effectiveness of controls of assigned businesses.
  • Develop pragmatic Corrective Action Plans as needed for issues and ensure timely closure of such plans
  • Drive the data strategy including collection, transformation, retention, usage and governance to support a data-driven approach to strategy development.
  • Be aware of and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as provide relevant operational oversight.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives
Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience in Policies/Analytics/Decision Management
  • Thinks and makes decisions in high risk scenarios, appropriately assessing a situation based on available data, experience, intuition, and judgment
  • Good project management skills
  • Able to interface with various levels of management in Global/Region/Business and across functions
  • Knowledge in consumer risk management credit cycle processes and asset product operations
  • Maintain effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating Risk issues, strength in sustaining autonomous views
Education
  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
