Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a U-Box Customer Care Driver to serve as a local delivery specialist, handling U-Box containers and delivering friendly, courteous service to customers in the New Haven area.

The role emphasizes safety, training, and ongoing education through U-Haul University, with opportunities for career progression and a caring company culture. Training for forklift operation and vehicle handling is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: clean motor vehicle driving record, high school diploma or equivalent, DOT certification, CDL.
• Safety-focused approach to loading/unloading and driving with care.
• Ability to operate and be trained on equipment such as forklifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate a flatbed truck (training provided).
• Operate an 8000-lb propane forklift or truck-mounted forklift (training provided).
• Load and unload storage containers for delivery.
• Transport storage containers to and from destinations – local routes only.
• Participate in ongoing education through U-Haul University.

U-Box Customer Care Driver Responsibilities

• Operate a flatbed truck (training provided).
• Operate an 8000-lb propane forklift or a truck-mounted forklift (training provided).
• Load and unload storage containers for delivery.
• Transport storage containers to and from specified destinations, e.g., customers’ homes and businesses – local routes only.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

Work Environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes or chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
