Founded in 1980, Hillsboro Aviation offers comprehensive helicopter and airplane services across five divisions: contract & charter, aircraft sales & management, service center, FBO, and parts sales. Serving domestic and international markets in government, commercial, and private sectors, we have over 85 employees and 10 turbine aircraft. Our headquarters are located at the Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO).

The Position

Our contract & charter division supports USFS, DOI, FEMA, utility companies, and others, performing missions like search and rescue, short-haul, disaster relief, aerial firefighting, and more, with a fleet including Airbus H145D3, Bell 205 A-1++, Bell 407, Bell 407HP, and Airbus AS350B3e.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Fleet Maintenance team to maintain helicopters.
  • Report to the Director of Maintenance.
  • Perform inspections and repairs following FARs, manufacturer's programs, Hillsboro's AAIP, and repair station guidelines.
  • Provide USFS/DOI contract coverage as a field mechanic.
  • Utilize computer databases and software for maintenance tracking.
Job Responsibilities
  • Work a 12/12 or 12/2 shift in remote locations during fire season (April–September).
  • Operate in a hangar environment as part of a maintenance team.
  • Maintain Bell 205A1 aircraft and Lycoming T53-17 turbines.
  • Provide contract coverage as a field mechanic.
  • Use computer software to track maintenance.
Qualifications/Licenses
  • Valid FAA A&P Certificate issued at least 24 months prior to application.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Experience maintaining Bell 205A1++ within the last 10 years.
  • At least 18 months of active helicopter maintenance in the last 2 years.
  • 12 months experience as an A&P mechanic maintaining helicopters.
  • Experience maintaining Bell 205A1++ and working in field conditions.
  • Ability to obtain a USFS/interagency mechanic card.
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Bell factory training courses.
  • Management or shop lead experience.
  • Willingness to work after-hours call-outs.
  • Extensive sheet metal experience.
  • CDL Class C with HAZMAT endorsement.
