Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., is the nation’s leading manufacturer of Ductile Iron Waterworks Fittings and Appurtenances. We have an immediate opening for a Forklift Operator/Order Selector at our Distribution Center in Riverside, California. Tyler Union's main manufacturing facility is located in Anniston, AL.

As a Forklift Operator/Order Selector, you will be responsible for moving products throughout the distribution center using RF technology. Day to day, you can expect to be picking orders and building pallets for shipment, loading and unloading trailers and containers, storing pallets in their proper bin locations, and counting and verifying product throughout all tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and productive work environment.

This is a salaried non-exempt position with a salary range between $45,000 - $50,000 annually, and an excellent benefits package including health, life, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, vacation, holiday pay, and 401(k).

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program and advise management of any deviations.
  • Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using various types of forklifts or other power equipment 80% of specified shift.
  • Pull and prepare products for shipment ensuring the exact number and types of products are loaded.
  • Inspect each pallet for proper quantities, items, and lot codes (as applicable), damages, and follow any special instructions or additional documentation.
  • Verify load accuracy; check the load count, stability, and product damage, reporting variances as necessary.
  • Safely load/unload trailers ensuring weight distribution, load integrity, and all shipping instructions are followed.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts, ensuring proper stock rotation.
  • Communicate problems, concerns, and ideas to management and identify process improvements.
  • Participate in all assigned training programs and adhere to all guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to process excellence.
  • Ability to work overtime with little to no notice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of forklift operations experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, industrial, or military environment preferred.
  • High school diploma is required.
  • One to three years of related on-the-job experience required.
  • Experience with RF devices.
  • Knowledge of UPS World Ship or FedEx Ground.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES And WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Proven experience as an order picker or other warehouse position.
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Diligent and punctual.
  • Good physical strength and stamina.
  • Use a handheld scanner with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Change equipment battery or LP tank and monitor power source as necessary.
  • Physical requirements include moderate lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds; overhead reaching; bending; pushing/pulling; and the ability to work in various temperature ranges.
  • Must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
