Job summary

Steel Energy Services is seeking a field technician to maintain and repair oil and gas wells and related equipment. Under supervision, you will rig up and rig down the workover rig, handle hydraulic and screw-type jacks, and load and assemble production rods, tubing and casing.

You will use specialized equipment to guide instruments down holes, keep a clean, organized workspace, and perform routine maintenance and lubrication on rig components.

• Maintain and repair oil or gas wells and related equipment under the direction of the Crew Operator.
• Rig up and rig down the workover rig.
• Operate levers to extend hydraulic or screw-type jacks to level the rig and machinery.
• Load and lay down steel rods, tubing and casing; assemble and disassemble production equipment.
• Use specialized equipment to guide tubing and casing down holes.
• Keep the work area clean and ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
• Perform cleaning, fueling, repair, and lubrication of rig equipment on a scheduled basis.

Main Functions

• Under the direction of the Crew Operator, performs activities and operates hand and power tools to perform maintenance and repairs to oil or gas wells and related equipment, including activities associated with the rig-up and rig-down of the workover rig.
• Pulls levers or turns handles to extend hydraulic or screw-type jacks to support and level the rig, its derrick and other machinery.
• Loads and lays down steel production rods, tubing and casing; disassembles and assembles various types of production equipment; repairs and maintains tools.
• Uses specialized equipment to guide instruments, tubing, and casing down holes.
• Keeps the working environment clean and organized and ensures that all equipment used is in proper working order.
• Performs cleaning, fueling, repair, and maintenance of workover rig equipment, including greasing and changing oils and lubricants on a regularly scheduled basis.
