Job summary

Two Sigma is seeking an FPGA engineer to develop and deploy low-latency FPGA systems for trading applications in New York. You will collaborate with traders, modelers, and software engineers to implement efficient hardware solutions and optimize system performance.

The role emphasizes RTL design, verification, and tuning within a cutting-edge, research‑driven environment that values innovation and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience required; 5+ years preferred in RTL design and verification for ASIC or FPGA.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong RTL design, optimization, and debugging skills, with proficiency in SystemVerilog and Python.
  • Working knowledge of FPGA or ASIC architectures, FPGA toolchains, and timing analysis.
  • Knowledge of network communication protocols.
  • Experience with C++ is a plus.

The Hardware team deploys the low‑latency systems that power our trading infrastructure, working closely with market researchers, software developers, and network engineers to solve technical challenges at the intersection of finance and technology.

We are looking for an FPGA engineer to help develop and deploy cutting‑edge hardware systems for trading applications. You will work in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment to solve complex technical challenges relevant to finance and technology.

Responsibilities

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong RTL design, optimization, and debugging skills, with proficiency in SystemVerilog and Python
  • Working knowledge of FPGA or ASIC architectures, FPGA toolchains, and timing analysis
  • Knowledge of network communication protocols
  • Experience with C++ is a plus

The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $300,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
