Job summary

Twin Disc is seeking a Manager of Manufacturing Engineering to lead the manufacturing engineering team at our Racine, Wisconsin facility. The role drives process optimization, lean initiatives, automation, and capital investments to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and successful product launches, while delivering cost improvements and KPIs that define operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in manufacturing engineering in complex environments.
• 3+ years in leadership of engineering teams.
• Experience with machining, assembly, or power transmission products.
• Proven track record leading process improvements and capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technical specialists.
• Drive process improvements in tooling, equipment, and production systems.
• Support daily operations by resolving technical challenges and improving throughput.
• Standardize manufacturing methods and best practices across the facility.
• Champion Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and lead kaizen events.
• Lead value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and waste reduction.
• Establish KPIs to drive operational excellence and cost reductions.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production for product launches.
• Develop manufacturing strategies, routings, tooling needs, and readiness plans.
• Lead capital equipment projects from justification to implementation.
• Evaluate and deploy automation and robotics; manage timelines and vendors.
• Ensure manufacturability is included in product development; drive continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking aManager, Manufacturing Engineeringto lead our manufacturing engineering team at our headquarters manufacturing facility in Racine, Wisconsin. This leadership role is responsible for driving manufacturing performance through process optimization, lean initiatives, automation, capital investments, and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance across the operation.

As the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, you will:

Manufacturing Operations Leadership

• Lead and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and technical specialists.
• Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and production systems.
• Support daily operations by resolving technical challenges and improving throughput.
• Standardize manufacturing methods and best practices across the facility.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Lead value stream mapping, kaizen events, root cause analysis, and waste reduction efforts.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive operational excellence.
• Identify and implement productivity and cost-reduction opportunities.

New Production Introduction

• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to support successful product launches.
• Develop manufacturing strategies, process routings, tooling requirements, and production readiness plans.
• Ensure manufacturability is incorporated into product development activities.

Capital Projects and Automation

• Lead capital equipment projects from justification through implementation.
• Evaluate and deploy advanced manufacturing technologies, automation systems, and robotics solutions.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, and equipment commissioning.
• Improve equipment utilization and long-term manufacturing capability.

Quality, Safety and Compliance

• Support quality improvement initiatives and corrective action activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote a culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Five or more years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Three or more years of leadership experience managing engineering or technical teams.
• Experience supporting machining, assembly, heavy manufacturing, or power transmission products.
• Demonstrated success leading process improvements and capital projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing analytics tools.
• Knowledge of automation, robotics, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing technologies.
• Experience in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
