Job summary

Johnsburg Public Library in Illinois seeks a dynamic Tween/Teen Library Associate who is passionate about working with tweens and teens. The role includes developing programs, selecting YA and graphic novels, and providing outreach to area schools.

A high school diploma is required, with at least one year of experience with children, teens, or families; an associate degree or related coursework is preferred. The position offers a supportive team and opportunities to engage the community.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience with children, teens, or families.
• Preferred: Associate degree or coursework in ECE, library science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develops, publicizes and implements programs for tweens and teens.
• Selects books and other media for YA, graphic novels, and some juvenile collections.
• Previews all graphic novel and young adult material before shelving.
• Develops and coordinates programs for organized groups of tweens and teens (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, etc.).
• Performs outreach to area schools, connecting with teachers and media specialists.
