Job description

Purpose

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge, experience, and skills to effectively represent the company with the largest or most complex customers. Understands customer needs and identifies products and services to meet these requirements. Participates in a leadership role, helping train and develop less experienced sales staff. May act as Sales Manager during absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represents the company during the sales process by collecting data on customer needs and design specifications, acting as a liaison between technical staff and customers to develop sales proposals. Handles complex or highly specialized customer requirements.
  • Develops sales contracts for a wide range of projects, including residential, multi-family, and commercial, by collecting specifications from clients' engineers or architects and conveying needs to technical staff and management.
  • Troubleshoots difficult or complex field issues.
  • Plans and conducts sales presentations, designing demonstrations of products and services tailored to customer needs.
  • Researches and solicits new customers, generating sales opportunities by understanding client needs and industry competition.
  • Updates customers on products and services, explaining how they meet current or future requirements.
  • Participates in leadership activities, such as chairing meetings and training less experienced staff.
  • Provides training to less experienced Outside Sales Reps.
  • Prepares reports and documentation for management.
  • Attends training programs to expand sales techniques and product knowledge, and may serve as a trainer.
  • Plans and manages personal work schedule to meet productivity goals.
  • Adheres to safety procedures and attends safety meetings; may suggest safety improvements.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Successful performance requires meeting each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or related field plus two years of sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
