TV Entertainment & USG Production, Development & Programming Internship – Academic Year 2025‑2026 (NBC Universal)

Program Overview

Interns will work full‑time at Universal City, CA, from September 15, 2025 through April 17, 2026. The internship is paid at $17.50 per hour and requires a commitment of 16–24 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility to accommodate course schedules. Eligible students will participate in a range of projects across production, development, casting, and content acquisition.

Responsibilities
  • Campaign Project Management: Assist Production Assistants and teams with on‑air and off‑air projects; manage show assets and deliverables via Dropbox; track production calendars in Airtable; support press leads with screeners, press clips, and promotional content; manage asset logs.
  • Entertainment Casting: Maintain internal talent database; curate daily casting news; research theater and comedy shows; compile TV premiere dates and cancellations; manage Competitive Pilot Report and track showcases during pilot season.
  • Entertainment Scripted Content: Schedule and track meetings and pitches for junior executives; file and submit development pitches; create weekly “Premiere Week” newsletters; conduct script coverage; take notes during creative calls and pitches.
  • Multiplatform Strategy & Planning: Plan and schedule daily logs on selected networks; collaborate with the marketing group to determine optimal promotion strategies for large‑scale campaigns across scripted, unscripted, news, and live events.
  • Production & Operations: Attend meetings; support FineCut and NBCU’s internal screening system; review post‑production materials; update production spreadsheets; provide production information; coordinate with other departments for up‑to‑date show data.
  • Unscripted Content – Alternative, Lifestyle & Documentary: Attend production and show‑development meetings; research and track talent, competition, and industry trends; prepare documents; assist with scheduling, phones, and expenses; manage and update development grids; watch new programming cuts and provide feedback.
  • West Coast Content Acquisition: Conduct partner relationships and onboarding; collaborate cross‑functionally with NBCU leadership and business units to ensure strategic alignment.
  • UCP Current Programming & Development: Organize staffing, OWA, and ODA grids; write manuscript coverage; cover desks during absences; perform additional tasks as needed.
  • Universal International Studio – Scripted Programming: Organize incoming submissions; maintain talent lists; track international festival films; write script coverage; participate in weekly meetings for new books and IP.
  • USG Creative Acquisitions: Maintain department databases; format internal memos; pitch material in meetings; cover desks; lead research projects and presentation decks.
  • UTV Programming & Creative: Provide desk coverage across departments; schedule, rolling calls, and email communications; read scripts and provide coverage; maintain grids and reports; pursue self‑guided learning projects.
  • Production & Operations (SpinCo): Attend and participate in meetings; support FineCut; audit post‑production materials; maintain spreadsheets; facilitate information flow.
  • Scripted Content (SpinCo): Schedule and track meetings and pitches; file development pitches; create “Premiere Week” newsletters; conduct script coverage; take notes during creative calls.
  • Unscripted Content (SpinCo): Attend production and development meetings; research and track talent, industry trends, and new show ideas; support scheduling; manage development grids; provide feedback and ownership of slate information.
Qualifications – Basic Requirements
  • Actively enrolled in a degree‑granting program at an accredited institution for the entire program period (September 2025–April 2026). December 2025 graduates are not eligible.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (≥30 credits).
  • Authorized to work in the United States for any employer; no current or future need for visa sponsorship through NBCUniversal.
  • Available to work 16–24 hours per week during the internship period.
  • Willing to work on‑site in Universal City, CA.
Desired Characteristics
  • Junior or above class standing.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Strong writing, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent project and time management, problem‑solving, and research skills.
  • Social media savvy and awareness of global trends.
  • Interest in production, development, casting, talent management, unscripted content, crime and documentary content, entertainment news, or pop culture.
  • Preferred: Script coverage experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Airtable, and IMDBPro.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects).
