PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: This position will supplement on-site instruction in the areas of literacy, English language development and/or math. Assist with the identification process of at‑risk students and will assess students for English language, reading and/or math proficiencies. Maintain the necessary program documents for compliance with District guidelines.
- Supplement on-site instruction in the areas of literacy, English language development and/or math.
- Communicate with students' classroom teachers and other staff as appropriate, contacting District Resource Teachers and/or District Instructional Coaches for technical assistance.
- Maintain professional job ethics and practices, maintain confidentiality in all respects (conversations, records and legal issues).
- Compile and maintain records, documents and other data as mandated by District, State and Federal guidelines.
- Administer appropriate tests to assess students in the areas of language proficiency, literacy and/or math.
- Coordinate communication between home and school.
- Facilitate students' understanding of school culture: school norms, rules and behavior.
- Utilize web-based resources to gather data and/or obtain instructional tools/documents to communicate and support learning.
- Attend required training to enhance professional growth and awareness of program guidelines and instructional practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma/GED required.
- Two or more years experience working with students in a classroom setting.
- Strong literacy, math skills, communication, oral language skills, management, organizational skills and basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office Word, email, ability to access Blackboard, Infinite Campus and any other web-based assessment tools. Employees will receive training on Federal guidelines, policies and instructional strategies, including child abuse procedures, assessment and program documentation, literacy, language acquisition and/or math.
- *Bilingual Position - Must take and score as competent and fluent in listening, speaking, reading and writing in both English and Spanish as defined by the ESL Dual Language Translation test.
- Valid Colorado driver's license and auto insurance required within one month after hire.
- Supervisor/technical responsibility: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This position serves as a resource on a specific functional area such as second language to new staff, building staff and throughout the District.
- Daily contact with persons in same unit/building to negotiate controversial or confidential matters; with persons outside department/building to maintain relationships; and with students to resolve problems or negotiate matters. May have weekly contact with parents to resolve problems or negotiate matters or extended family members to negotiate controversial or confidential matters.

- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. - Judgment and Decision Making: This position requires limited supervision. An individual will proceed on his/her own initiative in compliance with policies, practices, and procedures prescribed by their immediate supervisor. When tutoring a student, this person must be able to analyze the lesson plans provided by a licensed teacher, and use instructional strategies which would best meet the students' needs. District and department policies and procedures including the Jeffco Public Schools' ESL Systemic Plan and Title I Guidelines when applicable. Position requires collaborative decision making to include classroom teachers, resource teachers, counselors and administrators. An error in not communicating issues or information to a certified or licensed staff member could potentially have a negative and adverse impact on legal liability to the District and could negatively impact student achievement. Supervisor is always involved in making decisions.
- Diversity of Duties: Duties require knowledge of K-12 curriculum and District content area standards to include testing, record keeping, data collection and input, instructional tutoring, knowledge about legal requirements/guidelines and policies, collaboration, communication skills at school/home.
