Job summary

Collier County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated ELL Spanish Tutor for a 1-year assignment in the Phoenix/Naples area. The role supports world languages and assists students who are learning English as a second language.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English/Spanish), able to help with reading, writing, and mathematics readiness, and capable of communicating effectively with parents and colleagues in both languages. Basic computer skills and flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or an Associate’s degree (or higher).
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, as appropriate.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memoranda in English and in the first language.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Bilingual English-Spanish required; ability to work with parents, students and staff in both languages.

Minimum Requirements (Education/Experience)

Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or an Associate’s degree (or higher); or demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment (ParaPro Assessment) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, as appropriate and knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate. Basic computer skills required (e.g., ability to use email). Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memoranda in English and in the first language. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, students and other employees of the organization in both English and their first language. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
