Job summary

Better Than Average Tutoring (BTA) in Montgomery, AL is seeking flexible part-time tutors to support K‑12 students. You will reinforce classroom concepts, assist with homework and test prep, and lead one-on-one or small-group sessions after school and in the evenings.

Compensation is $15–$25 per hour, with a flexible schedule including some Saturdays. Training and curriculum support are provided to help you tailor sessions to each student’s goals and progress.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth or tutoring.
  • Strong communicator with patience, professionalism.
  • Confident in both ELA and Math.
  • Strong academic performers preferred (Magnet, AP, or Honors background).
  • Ability to work independently once trained – we provide support but trust you to lead.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor K-12 students in foundational subjects like reading, writing, and math.
  • Reinforce classroom concepts, support with homework/test prep, and model strong study habits.
  • Use manipulatives, online tools, and positive reinforcement to engage students.
  • Receive curriculum support and plan sessions accordingly based on each student’s academic goals.
  • Lead one-on-one and small group sessions (2-5 students).
  • Submit brief session notes and track student growth.
  • Build rapport, celebrate wins, and hold students accountable.

Compensation: $15-$25/hr based on subject and experience
Schedule: Flexible - Afternoon/Evening & Some Saturday Hours Available (Mon-Friday 1:30pm-9:30PM, Saturday 8am-3:30pm)
