Job summary

ETSS Tewahedo Social Services in Columbus, OH is seeking a part-time Tutor to assist elementary and middle school students with homework, prepare engaging lessons, and provide timely feedback. You will work at sites in Columbus and support refugee and immigrant students.

Hours are 3 pm to 7 pm, three days per week, with assignments and records managed across Valleyview Elementary and Sullivant locations. The role emphasizes student engagement and a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Some college or college degree preferred.
• Proficiency in language arts and/or math.
• Experience with elementary and middle school aged children.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with homework or projects assigned from school.
• Prepare weekly activities for academic and cultural enrichment.
• Select, adapt, and prepare materials for classes.

Job Details: Job Location: Columbus, OH 43223, Salary Range: $17.00 - $18.00 Hourly, Basic Function

Responsible for assisting with homework and/or preparing interesting and engaging lessons in several subject areas to teach to the students. Tutors will check homework, provide assignments, give timely feedback, and work with students individually to ensure their success.

This position is part-time, 3 days per week. Days are dependent on which site you are placed at. Hours are from 3 pm to 7 pm.

Responsibilities

• 1.Assist students with homework or projects assigned from school

• 4.Engages students in class work and activities, such as, reading, sentence construction, composition, grammar, and math problem solving.

• 6.Supports and guides students by assigning and giving feedback on a range of homework.
• 7.Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records and files.
• 8.Helps students develop critical and higher order thinking skills.
• 9.Provides individual support and attention to students as required through tutorials and individual meetings.
• 10.Evaluates students’ performance through class work, class participation, homework and tests.
