Job summary

Tampa JCCs and Federation in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Tutor to support children in core subjects such as math, reading, and writing, in partnership with Club J. The role requires adapting teaching methods to suit individual needs and maintaining a safe, nurturing one-on-one tutoring environment for Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Essential duties include meeting with students to review concepts, communicating tutoring goals with the Club J Director and families, and guiding students

Qualifications

• Tutor will adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs for children.
• Experience in core subjects such as math, reading, and writing preferred.
• Must be able to supervise children from Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Responsibilities

• Meet individually with students to help them review concepts and build confidence.
• Communicate with Club J Director, student and possibly with parents about tutoring goals.
• Walk kids from Club J Afterschool to their tutoring session and back to Club J Afterschool.
• Hand off student to parent if parent is picking up student and communicate with Club J counselors if this is the case.
• Has experience working with school age children in an educational setting. Teaching experience and degree is preferred.
• Enjoys working with children, and is willing to provide a fun and nurturing one-on-one tutoring experience.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Occasionally he/she is required to sit. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Reporting Relationships:

Position reports to the Club J Director (Youth Program Manager).

Based on experience.
