Job summary

The Chelonian Keeper I at Turtle Survival Center, Cross, South Carolina, performs animal husbandry, horticulture, and general maintenance on-site. You will feed and care for turtles, monitor health, maintain animal areas, and assist with facility upkeep and landscaping.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work in hot, humid conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary education in Biology is an asset.
• Must be able to work in a hot, humid climate for extended periods.
• Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be on feet for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Feed and care for turtles at the Turtle Survival Center.
• Monitor animal health.
• Maintain cleanliness of animal areas.
• Follow quarantine protocols to reduce disease transmission.
• Assist with facility maintenance and landscaping.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and communicate effectively with coworkers.
• Represent the Turtle Survival Alliance at volunteer and outreach events.
• Other duties as assigned.
