Job summary

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking a Turtle Care Assistant at the Bronx Zoo to support keepers and Wildlife Health Center staff with daily turtle/tortoise care. This seasonal, non-exempt role involves assisting with diets, enclosure maintenance, and health checks.

The position offers hourly pay and a schedule from 8:00am to 5:00pm, reporting to the Curator and senior staff. Prior experience with reptiles is preferred, and a high school diploma is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college coursework in related field preferred.
• Interest in reptiles and amphibians and prior care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and distributing diets for turtles/tortoises.
• Cleaning and preparing animal enclosures at the Bronx Zoo.
• Washing dishes and maintaining clean work areas.
• Assisting with basic turtle/tortoise husbandry (soaking, weighing, health checks).
• Reporting to Curator, Collection Manager, Senior Keepers, WHC staff.
