Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. in Madison, WI seeks an Automation Specialist to maintain and improve automated warehousing systems. You will work with WMS/WCS interfaces, troubleshoot PLCs, and coordinate with vendors to implement integrated solutions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of WMS, WCS and IT integration to achieve efficient operations.
  • Follow automated processes to support warehousing operations.
  • Troubleshoot electric, mechanical controls and PLC programs.
  • Improve existing automated material handling equipment and processes.
  • Work with vendors to implement integrated solutions.
  • Read and enforce safety procedures and SOPs.
  • Monitor WCS interface for faults and clear them promptly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on automation equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams on warehouse automation.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an understanding of WMS, WCS and IT integration as a means to achieve effective and efficient operations.
  • Follow Automated Processes to support successful execution of warehousing processes.
  • Knowledge to troubleshoot Electric Mechanical Controls.
  • Optimize existing automated material handling equipment.
  • Optimize/troubleshoot and understand Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs.
  • Work closely with vendors to investigate/integrate solutions.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Monitor Warehouse Control System (WCS) interface for potential faults created in automation and follow SOP's to clear machine faults in a timely and efficient manner.
  • May need to physically move product to resolve machine faults.
  • Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) to troubleshoot errors related to the automated warehouse.
  • Monitor Warehouse Control System (WCS) for inventory comingling and initiate routines to consolidate pallets as appropriate to achieve required levels of pallet storage.
  • Monitor the number of missions created by release of work to the system to ensure its ability to complete the required workload in automation and advise shift supervisor(s) of potential conflicts.
  • Escalates errors and system outages acting as a key liaison between operations, automation provider, and USCS specialist to help resolve the issues.
  • Ensure the data integrity of information utilized in Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) for operational execution.
  • Perform PM (preventative maintenance) as assigned on automation equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams on warehouse automation.
  • Seek out areas of Automated Process Improvements and Implement Corrective Actions.
  • Maintains a high focus on providing excellent customer service to our internal and external customers
