Job summary

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa is seeking a Hotel Room Attendant to perform evening turndown services in designated guest rooms, upholding the luxury standard and maintaining the highest level of discretion.

You will refresh bathrooms, replace towels, prepare beds, adjust drapes and lighting, remove service items, restock minibar supplies, and report maintenance needs to Engineering, all while coordinating with supervisors to ensure rooms are guest-ready for late arrivals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous housekeeping/janitorial or hotel support experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic English language skills for communication.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Perform turndown services in designated guest rooms in the evening. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.

Essential Job Functions

• Must have ability to perform daily work at a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
• Refresh the bathroom by removing used towels and replacing them with clean ones from the linen closet as well as wiping dry any wet surfaces.
• Folds any clothing left in room and places it in appropriate spot.
• Removes Room Service trays and dishes and carts to service landings.
• Replaces used cups, saucers, spoons and glasses from the Minibar with clean china, glasses and cutlery from the housekeeping closets.
• Removes garbage from bins in bedroom and bathroom.
• Closes drapes (based on applicable standard), reduces lighting, turns tv on and prepares bed.
• Submits all maintenance issues in guestrooms, Public Areas and Back of House to the Engineering department through designated work systems and brings them to the attention of the housekeeping management.
• Add special touches to the guestrooms to enhance the guest experience. For example eye glass cloths, cord wraps, chocolates, weather cards, etc.
• Restocks used amenities such as shampoo, lotions, cotton balls, stationery, pens and coffee, tea and sugar sachets.
• Prepares unoccupied rooms for turndown for arriving guests.
• Performs full Room Attendant duties in occupied rooms and late check-out rooms when needed.
• Vacuum, sweep, or mop in guest rooms or public areas as needed.
• Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge And Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or hotel support experience preferred but not required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Basic English language skills for communication (additional languages a plus)
• Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Hours required: Scheduled days and hours vary based on departmental needs.

Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift: Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 50 lbs. year. Frequently manipulate carts that weigh 200 lbs. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to perform all activities in a professional manner. Must be able to see and read printed matter with or without vision aids.

• Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
• Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
• Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
