Job description

This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant by 7/1/2025. However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year.

***This school has been designated as a Level 5 school by the State of Massachusetts. This designation allows districts to utilize new tools granted in the 2010 education reform law to provide additional services for these schools, including extended time and extra compensation where needed.

Reports to: Principal

Responsibilities:

TEACH: Early Childhood (Grades PK-2) in an SEI environment

  • Implement district learning goals using the OWL curriculum, aligned with state frameworks.
  • Create a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment with positive behavioral expectations through routines and interventions.
  • Establish a classroom structure that values relationships among children, between children and curriculum, teachers, families, and the community through intentional curriculum implementation.

Qualifications - Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Massachusetts Early Childhood Teaching License
  • SEI Endorsement or dual certification in ESL
  • Meet all licensing and qualification standards
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. by the first day

Qualifications - Preferred:

  • Urban school teaching experience
  • Degree in Early Childhood or Education
  • Familiarity with TERC Investigations Math Curriculum
  • Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean, Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali
  • Certification in subject area and/or special education or ESL at the appropriate grade levels
