Job summary

The Brock Group Inc is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the turnaround organization for petrochemical facilities. You will manage safety, quality and execution, directing a team to meet client and company standards.

You will develop and use forecasting tools, control budgets, and ensure right-sized staffing for each project while delivering on schedule. This full-time role requires travel on the West Coast up to 50% and strong leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of Project Management experience in the petrochemical industry.
  • 8-10 years leading a team including staffing, hiring and training direct reports.
  • Experience interpreting maintenance manuals, drawings and specifications.
  • Background in routine and corrective maintenance concepts for process facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of process piping systems, exchangers, drums, vessels and towers.
  • Proficiency with enterprise business management software and data reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the turnaround organization ensuring safety, quality and execution goals.
  • Lead and coach the turnaround team to meet scope, schedule and budget commitments.
  • Develop forecasting tools for resources and equipment and manage project budgets.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet client and company requirements and that right-sized organization is in place.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting (earned value, schedule compliance, staffing curves).
  • Maintain strong relationships with client personnel and internal teams.

Qualifications and Detail about the Position

Purpose

This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the turnaround organization in the petrochemical industry, ensuring safety, quality and execution goals are met. The incumbent directs the efforts of their team to effectively comply with company and client protocols, requirements and expectations for turnaround work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fostering a continuous improvement process and culture focused on delivery of high-performance turnarounds (readiness reviews, post turnaround reviews with manageable actions items)
  • Utilization of key resources and equipment related to turnarounds
  • Developing and utilizing forecasting tools for key resources and equipment
  • Ability to support sales and marketing efforts for turnaround business opportunities
  • Responsible for overseeing estimating efforts of turnaround events, ensuring scope, and estimating deliverables are defined and are met
  • Responsible for ensuring all turnaround projects have a right sized organization for the size and complexity of the project
  • Responsible for identifying and ensuring all company and client deliverables are met
  • Responsible for management of budgeted work scope, including change management tools and communication
  • Responsible for implementation of visible performance metric reports including P/A or earned value, schedule compliance, manpower staffing curves, etc. in compliance with company and client requirements
  • Development of financial forecasting including profit and loss responsibilities
  • Establishing and maintaining a productive working relationship with key company and client personnel
  • Ensuring all work is executed in compliance with client and company quality control standards
  • Providing a work environment that is consistent with company policies regarding discrimination, violence or harassment
  • Managing the hiring of personnel, as required, to meet workload demands
  • Administering subcontract and union relationships, as needed
  • Administering and documenting corrective action in accordance with company and/or client requirements
  • Provide periodic feedback on subordinates and make recommendations for improvement and wage adjustments

Requirements
  • Ten (10) years of Project Management experience in the petrochemical industry
  • 8-10 years leading a team of others. Experience in staffing, hiring and training direct reports
  • Significant experience using and interpreting technical maintenance manuals, drawings and specifications.
  • Background in routine and corrective maintenance concepts for process related facilities
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of process piping systems, exchangers, drums, vessel and towers
  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of enterprise business management software
  • Experience creating, analyzing and delivering business and financial reports and data
  • Be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing across all levels of the organization, with clients, and other constituencies
  • Maintain confidentiality around client or internal company information
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 50% of the time, depending on location. Travel is primarily on the West Coast
