Description

Summary: Ensures safety first, along with safe lifting of the load, proper set-up of a crane, while maintaining customer focus. Follows all state and federal laws while operating motor vehicles and adheres to all safety and environmental policies while performing job tasks.
Responsibilities:

  1. At the end of the shift, reviews next day(s) job assignments and ensures all necessary rigging and equipment are ready.
  2. Completes Field Ticket and submits to the local branch office, noting any additional chargeable equipment used.
  3. Completes payroll book daily with hours worked; reports hours to the local branch office by 10:00 a.m. every Monday.
  4. If not on a job assignment, informs supervisor and remains productive by inspecting, cleaning, and performing maintenance on equipment.
  5. Carries and answers phone/pagers promptly.
  6. Assists in training for safe crane operation.
  7. Periodically reviews assigned crane and other model cranes' service and operation manuals.
  8. Cleans, inspects, and reorganizes equipment in shop and yard; maintains cleanliness of the shop, rack, and break room.
  9. Reads, interprets, and calculates load percentage using the crane's load charts and operation manual.
  10. Programs the crane's computer for proper set-up mode and sets up the crane safely and professionally on location.
  11. Ensures the signal person understands and performs proper hand signals before lifting loads.
  12. Understands and performs proper rigging techniques to ensure safe lifting.
  13. Inspects crane, truck, and/or trailer and completes vehicle inspection report before operation, submitting it to the local branch office.
  14. Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a current crane operating license (NCCCO- TSS & TLL).
  2. 3 or more years of operating hydraulic cranes required.
  3. Ability to operate crane by viewing hand signals.
